LET'S LEARN OUR WAY THROUGH IT, SHALL WE?

book cover for let's learn our way through it, shall we?

At the end of 2018, I found myself beginning an exciting new position as Chief Learning Officer of the Kraft Heinz Company. Having been in learning and development for more than 20 years, I was to be responsible for creating a culture of continuous learning, bold creativity, and intellectual curiosity; for driving training and learning initiatives at one of the largest food companies in the world. It was a great challenge. I launched Let’s Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? on a snowy day in Canada, during a leadership retreat to the Toronto airport, heading home to Chicago. I made a daily commitment. I made a promise; every day for a year, I would learn something new and would share it with the organization through our internal social media channel. This journal is now a vessel for you to do the same.

Your daily learning moment can be just a few minutes long or if inspired, a few hours. Consuming articles, eLearning courses, podcasts, books, and everyday interactions. This journal allows you to spend time each day writing, reflecting on what you learned. Use this journal to commit to a learning practice of your own-because by learning, reflecting, and sharing, we empower others as well as ourselves. Let’s Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We? is the foundation of a learning transformation. A vibrant learning practice is an important ingredient to fuel any transformation.

There is power in making a commitment to be a lifelong learner. There is power in making a commitment to start a new habit-even if you start with a few minutes a day. There is power in deciding to be the Chief Learning Officer of your life as you continue to work towards the best version of yourself.

Welcome to the next 365 days of your life. Let’s Learn Our Way Through It, Shall We?

NAVIGATING SACRED SPACES

After over a decade navigating sacred spaces from the South Side of Chicago to South Africa, from Brazil to Brooklyn, Pamay Bassey is more convinced than ever that there is a sacred space for everyone who seeks it, no matter who you are, what you believe or what you don’t believe.

She wrote about the first year of her passion project in the book, My 52 Weeks of Worship: Lessons from a Global, Spiritual Interfaith Journey, and shared her story in her TEDx talk, also titled: Navigating Sacred Spaces. Now she invites you to go on a journey of your own.

Are you courageous enough to give yourself permission to walkthrough countless spaces to find your place – a place that challenges you while nourishing you completely and thoroughly, no matter what life throws at you?

If the answer is yes, this journal is for you. One week at a time, ask the hard questions, step out of your comfort zone, and search for your truth with an open heart and good intentions.

MY 52 WEEKS OF WORSHIP: LESSONS FROM A GLOBAL,
SPIRITUAL, INTERFAITH JOURNEY

Suffering the loss of her father and grandmother, and dealing with the ending of a relationship left the author tired, bereft, disappointed, emotionally drained, and feeling like God had forgotten her. She wondered what she could do to heal from this holy triumvirate of personal pain.

She decided that spirituality would be the context from which she would make her journey back to herself. If she felt like God had forgotten her, then she would look for him everywhere and in the eyes of everyone she met. She made a commitment to visit a different place of worship every week for a year, whether that place of worship reflected her religious tradition or not. In total, she visited sixty-one churches, temples, mosques, synagogues, and gathering places in the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Nigeria and South Africa.

My 52 Weeks of Worship is the story of one woman’s courageous journey. Read and see – will her journey lead her to deep, dark places in her soul or help find peace and acceptance?
